Marketplace platform

Building the shopfront is the easy part of a marketplace. The hard part lives out of sight: autonomous vendors, revenue to be shared, commission rates, refunds and arguments between the two sides of each sale. Buyers see a fraction of the machinery. Allegro and Empik have also trained Polish consumers to expect polish, so even a niche platform opens under scrutiny.

Included in this service

There are three front doors: one for shoppers, one for vendors and one for you as the operator. Teams tend to leave the operator console until the end, even though you will live in it daily.

Talk the scope through with an engineer

Seller dashboard

Manual or bulk-file listing, inventory, incoming orders, revenue reports and upcoming payouts. High-volume vendors plug in via API or BaseLinker.

Moderation

Vendors and listings are vetted pre-publication, and notices about unlawful content are handled. Skip this and fakes and junk take over fast.

Split payments

Each purchase is divided automatically between operator and vendor, via Stripe Connect or the marketplace products offered by PayU or Przelewy24, with vendor identity verification built in.

Commission and fees

Category-based percentages, flat listing charges, paid promotion slots and subscription tiers for heavy sellers.

Reviews

Only verified purchasers may rate, and fake-review safeguards are in place; otherwise scores quickly become meaningless.

Regulation and reporting

Collection of the seller data that the Digital Services Act (DSA) and platform reporting rules (DAC7) may require. You settle the scope of obligations with a lawyer or tax adviser; we build it in technically.

How we work together

A revenue-ready first version is a project measured in months rather than weeks, followed by staged development across the next few years.

01

Business model

Who is charged, for which service, at what moment. Technical design waits until these are answered.

02

Design

Three front doors, user roles, order states and the money trail linking everyone.

03

First release

Shopfront, vendor dashboard, checkout and payouts. Extras follow in later phases.

04

Growth

Sponsored listings, analytics, automated listing checks and feeds for price comparison engines.

Moderation is labour, not a toggle in the settings. Someone must review listings, answer complaints and arbitrate disputes, starting in month one. Few marketplaces collapse because of software. Many collapse because nobody priced the people needed to run them.

Questions and answers

Neither: begin with a tight niche where you can attract both. Shoppers ignore empty shelves and vendors ignore empty aisles. You break that deadlock in a small, familiar segment, often by personally recruiting the founding vendors.

DAC7 is an EU directive on platform operators reporting vendor details and earnings to the tax authorities. Whether and how far it applies to your platform depends on how it operates, so confirm that with a tax adviser or lawyer. Technically, we can capture the necessary data from launch so the filing is generated rather than compiled by hand.

For proving the concept, yes, for instance WooCommerce with a multi-vendor extension. Limits appear precisely where your fee or settlement logic is unusual, which tends to be your competitive advantage. Launch on the packaged tool, then after a few months decide which parts deserve a rebuild.

Commission is a service you sell to vendors, so it needs an invoice, and from 2026 those invoices pass through KSeF. The platform can generate them monthly without manual work. Your tax adviser decides the treatment; we build the mechanism that applies it.
