Monitoring
Continuous checks that every server, firewall and switch answers, that key services run, that disks have room and that no certificate is close to lapsing. Depending on size we use Zabbix, PRTG or a commercial RMM.
A firm may already own more tooling inside its Microsoft 365 plan than it uses. Commercial platforms pay off once you manage a large number of endpoints or face formal reporting obligations.

Laptops, phones and the programs on them get recorded without manual effort, via Intune or a network scanner like Lansweeper. For public bodies it also helps with the KRI interoperability requirements.
We line up what is actually installed against your invoices. Mismatches go both ways: software used without a licence, and licences nobody uses.
Connecting to an employee's screen via Quick Assist or an RMM tool, with every session recorded: who, when and on which machine.
Security fixes for Windows and popular apps deployed from the centre, for example with Intune, in waves: a few test machines first, then everyone else.
Thresholds and recipients arranged so that notifications get read rather than piling up in a “Monitoring” folder with 14,000 unread messages.
The schedule depends on the number of devices and sites, and is agreed at the start. Agents are rolled out and configured remotely, with nobody walking from desk to desk.
Device and site counts, licences you already hold, and what hurts most right now.
Open source or commercial, whichever suits your size and obligations. You buy from the vendor or a partner, working from our exact specification.
We deploy the agents, register every device, write the rules and alert routes, and a written record of what is configured where.
Over the first weeks we adjust thresholds until false alarms fade and only the ones needing action remain.
An alerting system full of false positives is worse than silence. Within a fortnight the admin stops opening alerts and the genuine incident disappears in the noise. So we calibrate every limit to your own machines rather than trusting the out-of-the-box values.
In smaller firms, open source tools combined with features already in your Microsoft 365 plan are often enough. Commercial products are justified when you need ready-made reports for the board or an auditor, vendor support, or several hundred workstations across multiple branches.
Manual lists go stale within days. A scanner reports what is really out there: system versions, machines where patches did not apply, even the laptop with an unauthorised torrent client. And it hands you the numbers for any licence true-up.
Server and network device availability, free disk space, the result of last night's backup, and expiry dates for certificates and domains. Those five checks catch many of the typical failures you would otherwise hear about from irritated colleagues.
It can be, if organised properly. The employee sees and accepts the connection, sessions are logged and only named people have access. We describe this in a procedure you can attach to your data protection documentation and your remote working policy. The final assessment is for your data protection officer.
